LGMA statement at SB64 Global Implementation Accelerator

Thank you and good afternoon everyone. I am from the government of Quebec, member of the Under2 Coalition, and I will be delivering this statement on behalf of the Local Governments and Municipal Authorities Constituency.

We welcome the strengthening of the Action Agenda, congratulate the continuity provided by the COP30 Presidency, as well as the leadership of Turkiye and Australia.

We believe that efforts to enhance coherence and clarification in the Action Agenda, supported by efforts such as the GlA, can help reinforce the importance of implementation alongside the negotiation process.

We hope that the GIA will help connecting existing initiatives, accelerate implementation, strengthen the credibility of the Action Agenda, and encourage greater engagement of Parties and all stakeholders.

Our ask is the following: as constituencies do not have a formal role in the Action Agenda, we encourage the GIA to ensure transparency and draw on the expertise of constituencies and other non-Parties stakeholders. Clear pathways for accountability and engagement will be essential to this process.

We thank you.
