The theme for the tenth day at COP28 was Nature, Land Use and Oceans. Throughout the day - and throughout COP - a number of announcements have been made that emphasize the crucial importance of tackling the climate and nature crises in an integrated way, including the participation of subnationals.
The LGMA intervened at a national goals based session connecting the climate and biodiversity agendas.

Ministerial addresses alignment of biodiversity and climate goals, with space for subnationals on #NatureDay
Through this event, the UNFCCC COP28 and CBD COP15 Presidencies brought together governments and leaders across society at a ministerial roundtable to discuss the importance, challenges, and opportunities in adopting a synergetic approach in the design and implementation of national climate and biodiversity plans and strategies.
#Generation Restoration: Cities for urban nature restoration
This project was showcased on the COP28 Presidential event “Local Ecosystem Restoration for Nature Positive Cities and Regions” on Dec 6th organized by COP28 Presidency, UNEP, UN High Level Climate Champions, Global Commons Alliance, World Bank and ICLEI. H. E. Razan participated on the event and launched a call to action for cities and regions.
ICYMI: Launch of the Urban Nature Program at the Local Climate Action Summit at COP28
The Urban Nature Program aims at scaling up financing to support cities and sub-national governments to implement their actions for nature-positive development promoted under the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. Working with the existing initiatives, the Program focuses on integrated solutions to climate change and biodiversity loss.
