CHAMP - Coalition for High Ambition Multi-level Partnerships - has arrived, with 63 national endorsers and broad local and regional support.
The Multilevel Action & Urbanization Pavilion hosted a high level opening, welcoming Nobel Laureate and former US Vice President Al Gore, Humza Yousaf, First Minister, Government of Scotland, and Maimunah Mohd Sharif, Executive Director, UN-Habitat, among many distinguished speakers.
The Local Climate Action Summit kicked off and continues today.

The Coalition for High Ambition Multi-level Partnerships (CHAMP) is a new initiative from the UAE COP28 Presidency with support from Bloomberg Philanthropies to accelerate multilevel climate action from national and subnational governments. 63 national governments have already signed on.
Kicking-off an era of multilevel action and urbanization in the age of climate emergency

It sparks a multilevel panel of experts committed to advancing climate action from the ground up. During the opening of the Pavilion, the global stage for subnationals at COP28, the discussion focused on why multilevel action needs to be the new normal.
Attended by over 450 attendees from 60+ countries, including over 250 mayors and governors, LCAS is the first-ever COP event for local and regional governments to be part of the COP Presidency's official agenda. Focused on elevating the role of cities in climate planning, the Summit had announcements ranging from a new coalition launch to a $65 million fund. It also featured high-level speakers' insights who share a common thread on the necessary synergy between national and subnational leadership in driving climate action.
