How Cities and Regions engaged on Youth Day

ICLEI's Vision on Youth Engagement in Global Climate Action
ICLEI believes in youth being heard in the climate debate at all levels, mobilizing millions of peers, creating worldwide movements that claim priority of climate action in political agendas, and demanding governments at all levels to acknowledge and respond to the global climate emergency.
Urban Africa in Action - Youth Special
Disenfranchisement of young people is the biggest barrier to achieving resilience because if we are not equipping the youth to contribute to society, to push boundaries, and to set the terms of the societies that they will inherit, we will not be building the cities we want. Let us not dismiss youth as outsider activists and antagonists, but create the space to welcome their critique, their legitimate outrage, and their voice.
DECLARATION OF RABAT-SALÉ-KÉNITRA of Subnational Governments towards COP27
This declaration by Regions4 and partners gathers the key messages that 45 regional governments from across the globe are taking to the negotiation table at COP27. They advocate for driving transformative action for the planet, people and prosperity for a resilient future.

Regions4 also released their RegionsAdapt Progress Report 2021-2022, which provides a unique picture of the progress of regional governments towards adaptation and resilience, and informs their progress in the Race to Resilience campaign and other global processes on climate.
Signature of the carta de Sinai
At COP27, ICLEI facilitated an exchange between representatives of Portuguese-speaking Members from Brazil and Mozambique. The outcomes are captured in the carta de Sinai (Sinai Charter), in which they agreed to strengthen the cooperation between Portuguese speaking communities across the world, especially to regularly exchange on topics such as urban food systems and mobility.
