Mobilizing action in South American cities

Maria Cecilia Alvarado Carrion, Vice Prefect, Azuay, Ecuador shared that “we need to talk about the role of the cities in greenhouse gas inventories.“ In addition planning, Mobility and especially energy, which poses up to half of cities problems in her region, need urgent action.

South American cities have many projects and plans but finding the funding for these is where the challenges can set in. More action needs to be taken to make funds available to smaller cities and local leaders so that we can see positive sustainable development results across all cities.
